Job Description:
Seeking an experienced Controller to lead the accounting and financial operations for company development, homebuilding, and real estate businesses in Bluffton, SC. This strategic leadership role oversees financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, insurance, audits, tax compliance, and internal controls while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies. The Controller will partner closely with executive leadership and department managers to improve financial performance, reporting efficiency, and business processes. Oversee all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, treasury, audit, tax, and internal control functions for development, homebuilding, and real estate operations Manage financial consolidation across multiple entities, including intercompany accounts and transactions Prepare and deliver financial reporting, forecasts, analytics, and business metrics to executive leadership and department managers Partner with operational leaders to support budgeting, financial performance, and strategic business decisions Ensure compliance with US GAAP, company policies, and federal/state tax and regulatory requirements Prepare financial statements, maintain accurate financial records, and review account reconciliations Lead annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes, including variance analysis and corrective action recommendations Coordinate annual audits and tax filings Recommend and implement financial systems and process improvements to increase efficiency and reporting accuracy Develop and maintain internal controls and internal audit procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accurate financial reporting Oversee insurance administration, renewals, and cost-saving initiatives with third-party providers Manage treasury functions, including safeguarding funds and overseeing cash disbursements Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting staff through training, evaluations, and professional development planning
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required 6 years minimum experience as controller, preferably in a development/real estate environment Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and/or MBA desired Development, Homebuilding, and Real Estate finance experience Experience working with financial systems Ability to improve business processes and accountability Independent thinker, logical, strategic, attention to detail
