Job Description
About Us We are a growing poultry processing company focused on producing high-quality chicken products while maintaining strong financial controls and operational excellence. We are seeking an experienced Controller to join our leadership team and help drive the financial success of our organization. Position Summary The Controller is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accounting operations of the company and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial reporting. This position manages the accounting team, maintains internal controls, oversees monthly and year-end close processes, supports operational decision-making through financial analysis, and partners closely with the Chief Financial Officer on strategic initiatives. This role is ideal for a hands-on accounting professional with experience in manufacturing or food processing who enjoys improving processes, leading teams, and working closely with operations. Responsibilities
- Manage all daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll support, and fixed assets.
- Supervise and develop accounting staff.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Lead the monthly close process.
- Maintain and improve internal controls.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts.
- Oversee inventory accounting and manufacturing cost accounting.
- Analyze production costs, labor, overhead, yields, and inventory variances.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Coordinate annual tax preparation with external CPA firms.
- Support lender reporting and borrowing base reporting.
- Track capital expenditures and fixed assets.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulations.
- Partner with operations leadership on KPI reporting and profitability.
- Improve accounting processes through automation.
- Perform other duties assigned by the CFO. Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA or CMA preferred.
- Five or more years of progressive accounting experience.
- Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant experience preferred.
- Manufacturing, food processing, or poultry industry experience strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP.
- Experience with inventory accounting and cost accounting.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
- Experience with ERP/accounting software.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills. Benefits
