Description We are looking for an accomplished Controller to oversee accounting operations and deliver reliable financial leadership for the organization and its subsidiaries in Dallas, Texas. This Contract position is suited for a detail-oriented individual who can guide financial reporting, strengthen operational discipline, and support business growth through sound analysis and oversight. The role offers the opportunity to shape accounting processes, partner with leadership, and ensure timely, accurate financial results across a complex environment. Sage Intacct considered a huge plus.
Responsibilities:
- Direct the monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycle while ensuring financial statements, reconciliations, accruals, and variance reviews are completed accurately and on schedule.
- Serve as the main point of contact for external audit partners and coordinate all activities required for successful annual audit completion.
- Incorporate acquired entities into existing accounting workflows and reporting standards to support smooth financial integration.
- Oversee tax compliance activities by working closely with outside advisors to meet federal, state, and local filing obligations.
- Lead and coach the accounting team, establish performance expectations, and promote a culture of accountability and process improvement.
- Manage cash positioning, treasury activity, liquidity planning, and banking relationships to support short- and long-term financial needs.
- Supervise accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, and working capital performance to maintain healthy financial operations.
- Maintain fixed asset records, monitor depreciation activity, and ensure accurate accounting for capital assets.
- Enhance internal controls, compliance practices, and risk mitigation measures to support financial integrity and operational reliability.
- Advance process efficiency through accounting system improvements, automation efforts, and technology-related enhancements. Requirements
- Demonstrated experience leading month-end close activities in a Controller or senior accounting capacity.
- Strong knowledge of monthly accruals, account reconciliations, and financial reporting processes.
- Hands-on understanding of inventory accounting and related balance sheet controls.
- Proven ability to manage audits, coordinate with external auditors, and support compliance requirements.
- Experience with Sage Intacct
- Experience overseeing cash flow, treasury functions, and core transactional accounting operations.
- Ability to lead accounting staff, provide mentorship, and drive continuous improvement across the team.
- Solid understanding of internal controls, risk management, and accounting process optimization.
