Job Description

A multifamily management company with over four decades of proven success, is expanding and seeking an experienced Sr, Accountant . This role is critical to managing both corporate-level and property-level accounting. Multifamily accounting experience is required. The Assistant Controller will partner closely with the COO and property management teams, ensuring adherence to GAAP and maintaining the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with Community Managers and the COO to ensure accurate financial reporting and assist with annual budget preparation. Oversee treasury functions, including cash management and cash flow forecasting. Maintain and monitor escrow analyses. Manage all accounts payable processes, including issuing checks, initiating wire/ACH payments, maintaining vendor records, and responding to vendor inquiries. Administer Positive Pay processes and demonstrate strong understanding of banking operations. Perform detailed reconciliations of operating and tax expenses in accordance with leases, management agreements, and governing documents. Record accrual and cash journal entries. Ensure timely and accurate maintenance of records in accordance with GAAP or other applicable accounting bases. Lead month-end close processes, including preparation and review of reconciliations for complex accounts. Review and analyze the general ledger for accuracy. Assist in the preparation of annual budgets. Prepare documentation for internal and external audits. Produce comprehensive monthly and quarterly financial statements with supporting schedules. Prepare quarterly debt compliance reporting, including certificates and supporting documentation. Assist with onboarding new projects, including property setup in RealPage/OneSite, bank account openings, and acquisition-related schedules (e.g., proration schedules). Prepare tax projections and tax preparation workpapers. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting (required). Minimum 5 years of professional multifamily accounting experience (required). QuickBooks experience (required). Experience with RealPage/OneSite strongly preferred. Solid understanding of GAAP. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (intermediate level). CPA license or progress toward CPA preferred. Ability to work minimal supervision and take initiative. Willingness to work overtime as needed.
