Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract This position offers an exciting opportunity to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and Staff Pharmacist at a psychiatric facility in Houston, TX. You will manage pharmacy operations while providing exceptional pharmaceutical care within a specialized psychiatric setting. This contract role is ideal for pharmacists who are licensed in Texas and experienced in both staff and leadership capacities.

8-12 weeks
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Potential weekend shifts (8:00 AM - 2:30 PM) if no per diem coverage available On-call coverage may be required to address staffing gaps
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee pharmacy staffing and daily operations as Pharmacist in Charge Ensure safe and effective medication dispensing in a psychiatric care environment Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient outcomes Support and supervise pharmacy technicians and PRN pharmacists Utilize the HCS order entry system (training provided) to manage prescriptions efficiently Provide weekend and on-call coverage as necessary to maintain continuous service
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active Texas Pharmacist license (required) Experience in psychiatric pharmacy practice preferred Ability to lead pharmacy staff and manage workflow effectively Familiarity with pharmacy order entry systems, with willingness to learn HCS Strong communication skills and a commitment to patient safety
Staff and Support:
Team includes 2 pharmacy technicians and 3 PRN pharmacists Tech support is available on-site This role is best suited for candidates located locally to Houston or those open to relocating for a rewarding engagement in psychiatric pharmacy management.
