We are a collaborative firm specializing in archaeology, architectural history, and heritage compliance services. Our work is project-driven and fast-paced, supporting both public and private sector clients across the region. We are committed to accuracy, effective communication, and a team-oriented approach to delivering high-quality results. Position Overview The Financial Controller oversees the firm's day-to-day financial operations. This management-level position is well-suited for a detail-oriented and highly organized individual seeking to work within a project-based business environment. The role is integral to maintaining efficient accounting processes, ensuring accurate project financial tracking, and providing timely support to project managers and senior leadership. This newly created role combines strong accounting skills with an understanding of project-based budgeting and small business financials. The Financial Controller will be responsible for the company's financial management and reporting, accounting, and overseeing accounts payable and receivable.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management & Reporting Prepare and present on regular financial reports, statements, and summaries Analyze financial data to provide actionable insights to senior management. Monitor and report company cashflow to senior management. Work closely with senior management to build and maintain overhead budgets. Accounting Maintain accurate records of financial transactions, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with organizational policies as well as federal, state, and local laws. Routine financial data verification including monthly account reconciliation Accurate and consistent bookkeeping using QuickBooks Online. Maintain compliance with GAAP standards. Work with contracted CPA firm to support business tax filings. Direct internal and external audits Accounts Payable/ Accounts Receivable Supervise AP/AR specialist to ensure timely and accurate AP and AR. Maintain accurate records of contract billing requirements and ensure all requirements are met. Provide AP/AR support and coverage as needed. Leadership Lead and mentor AP/AR specialist. Work closely with Operations on company financial planning and goals. Collaborate with project managers to monitor budgets, forecast expenses, and provide financial insights for decision-making.
Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Current CPA certification valid in Texas 5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in project-based environments. Proficiency in accounting software (preferably QuickBooks Online) and Microsoft Excel. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities. Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Priority given to applicants with experience or familiarity with archaeological fieldwork operations and/or project-based accounting . Salary Range:
$95,000-$105,000 annually. Negotiable based on experience
