We are looking for a self-motivated, independent thinker to own the role of corporate controller. At NCU we like to say transportation is the lifeblood of America. Job Duties & Responsibilities Multi-Store Financial Reporting:
Oversee and review timely closing of monthly financial statements for 10 branch locations
Multi-State Tax & Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure strict compliance with corporate, sales, use, property and payroll tax regulations across all 3 operating states.
Centralized Accounting Oversight:
Direct and mentor a team of branch level accounting admins and a corporate accounting team. Implement standardized accounting procedures, general ledger maintenance, and schedule reconciliations across all locations.
Manage Banking Relationships:
Collaborate with owners to manage banking relationships and responsibilities including wire & ACH transfers
Internal Controls & Risk Management:
Establish, monitor, and enforce robust internal control policies across all physical locations to protect company assets, prevent fraud, and minimize operational variances.
Audit & Asset Management:
Coordinate year-end CPA audits, state tax audits, and financial institution reviews. Coordinate physical inventory counts (vehicles and parts) and floorplan audits. Work with outside accountant to manage fixed assets and depreciation schedules.
Intercompany Reconciliations:
Manage complex intercompany transactions, inventory transfers, centralized purchasing allocations, and shared services expenses. Qualifications Minimum 7-10 years of accounting experience with 3+ years in management role Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, MBA & CPA preferred Proficient with Dealership Management Systems (DMS) or similar with cross platform migration a plus Exceptional Excel skills with proficiency in other Microsoft Office applications Proven ability to manage, train, and hold remote teams accountable. Willingness to embrace AI technology for increased efficiency and accuracy Excellent work ethic Schedule Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm This is a fully on-site position with no hybrid or remote options Occasional travel to branch locations required North Central Utility is one of the largest semi-trailer dealerships in the nation and the largest in the North Central region with 10 locations throughout Wisconsin, Minnesota, and North Dakota. We are a family-owned and operated company with 2nd and 3rd generations taking the reins of leadership. NCU offers reefers, dry vans, and flatbed trailers from Utility Trailer Manufacturing at all locations and vocational trailers from MAC Trailers in Wisconsin - we sell new and used semi-trailers. With Moore Space, we offer temporary storage container solutions as well. Our parts department has an extensive inventory of Heavy-Duty Truck/Tractor, Trailer, and TRU parts. Our broad product line and geographic coverage ensure we are a "One Stop Shop" for truck and semi-trailer parts. Our service department offers everything from routine maintenance, certified DOT inspections, to precision laser alignment, as well as complete wreck repair for trailer of all makes and models. No job is too big or too small for our skilled service technicians.
