Associate Underwriter II SFMC Home Lending Plano, TX Job Details 1 day ago Qualifications Computer operation Document review (document control) Underwriting Customer service Computer literacy Research Mid-level High school diploma or GED Bachelor's degree Staff training Organizational skills FHA Direct Endorsement Certification Computer skills Lending Training & development 1 year Full Job Description The Associate Underwriter II will be responsible for assisting the Associate Underwriters with technical guideline interpretation, answering scenario and opinion questions, and ensuring alignment with agency guidelines, overlays, and internal standards. They provide guidance to Associate Underwriters, assist UW Team Lead and/or Manager in reviewing and reconciling files, and contribute to meeting team goals such as SLA turn times and customer service excellence.
Duties include:
Help answer questions from the Associate Underwriters in matters of guideline interpretation and document/condition acceptability. Uphold the philosophy of guideline-based lending. Manage the pipeline to help ensure that SLAs are consistently maintained. Gather feedback from the Associate Underwriters regarding observed execution and consistency issues, and communicate these to the Underwriting Team Lead and/or Manager. Assist with the training of new and existing associate underwriters. Fulfill training requirements as defined by the Underwriting Team Lead and/or Manager. Complete other duties or tasks as assigned by management. Education and/or
Work Experience Requirements:
High School diploma is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred. Must have completed Conventional Automated Authority with SFMC Home Lending or another reputable lender." Both FHA manual and automated authority certifications must be completed, and a
CHUMS ID
is required.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of agency underwriting guidelines and requirements Minimum of 1 year of experience with condition clearing authority Must have strong reasoning ability and logical thinking skills; ability to review file documentation and identify issues. Strong written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically with various audiences, including senior leadership. Strong planning and organization skills, to include attention to detail and the ability to multitask and prioritize workload with minimal supervision. Customer service orientation and creative thinking to find appropriate/alternative programs and solutions for unique situations. Computer literate with knowledge of industry automation and software. Ability to research agency and company guidelines, overlays, and policies to provide accurate answers. High level of integrity, ethics, discretion, and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive information.
