Job Description

Under the supervision of the Director of Accounting, is responsible for the monthly functions and budgetary process for an assigned facility within Tanner Health System. Using established procedures, analyzes departmental fiscal data and operations. Applies fundamental fiscal concepts. Assists departmental management staff and other personnel in technical budgetary matters, finance meetings and in the general preparation and administration of the budget. Likewise, will also be responsible for productivity, cost accounting, cost report preparation, and all other financial functions for assigned facility. The position will become an expert at the assigned facility and will meet with Directors and Administrators to answer questions and in some instances make recommendations. EducationBachelor's DegreeExperienceThree years of related experience. Requires working knowledge of specialized practices, equipment, and procedures.

  • Ability to perform at best on a consistent basis and to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to prioritize job duties in order to meet and work under frequent deadlines.
  • Ability to work with detailed information, and errors that are not easily detected.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance degree required.
  • Excellent written and/oral communications skills are required to teach classes, do presentations, and educate all staff at all skill levels.
  • Master's Degree or CPA preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact as a liaison between the Accounting department and customers both internal and external.
Area of Responsibilities
  • Assist customers with financial questions and serve as advisor to others in department.
  • Provide ownership and supervision of all areas impacting assigned facility of Tanner Health System including but not limited to analysis and preparation of contractual entry, accrual entry, statistics, financial analysis for month end, productivity worksheets, and productivity audits.
  • Responsible for all analysis and review of assigned facility for budgets for all areas including statistics, revenue rates, staffing and operating expenses and anticipate how future strategic initiatives will impact operations.
  • Review monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned facility and investigate outstanding variances. Reconcile assigned cash account.
  • Serve as primary contact to Administrator, Directors, and Managers of assigned facility. Be proactive in distribution of knowledge and alert management team to potential issues as they arise.
  • Assist Director in other duties as assigned.
  • Assist with preparation of yearly cost reports, surveys, and audit information.
Compliance StatementEmployee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.
