Job Description:

Founding Product Designer | Onsite | San Francisco Berkley Hunt is partnering with an early-stage AI infrastructure company building workflow automation tools for highly technical engineering environments. Their platform integrates into complex engineering and operational systems, helping teams automate workflows across design, simulation, and enterprise processes. This is a genuinely difficult product and design challenge. The team is building AI-native tooling for technical users operating in complex environments, where trust, observability, approvals, and workflow clarity matter just as much as the underlying technology. They're now hiring their first design hire to define the product experience from the ground up. What You'll Do Own product design across the core platform and user experience Design complex workflow systems for highly technical users Define interaction patterns for AI-assisted workflows, approvals, observability, and recovery flows Work closely with engineering and leadership on product direction and UX strategy Build and evolve the company's design systems and overall product language Translate highly technical functionality into intuitive product experiences Help shape product decisions in a fast-moving 0-1 environment What We're Looking For Strong product design experience across complex B2B or technical software products Experience designing workflow-heavy enterprise platforms, developer tools, infrastructure products, or industrial software Ability to simplify complex systems into intuitive user experiences Experience working closely with engineering teams in startup environments Comfortable operating with high ownership as a first or early design hire Strong systems thinking and end-to-end product ownership Bonus Experience with AI products or agentic workflows Experience working on desktop applications or technical platforms Background in CAD, simulation, manufacturing, infrastructure, or engineering-focused software Experience building products for highly technical users Benefits Competitive base salary + meaningful equity High ownership and direct impact on product direction Opportunity to define design within a category-defining AI product Small, highly technical team with strong product and engineering talent
