You're invited to help the Georgia Appalachian Trail Club's (GATC) Rock Crew on Wednesday, Oct. 21 from 9 am - 4 pm in Blairsville, GA! You'll be working alongside experienced leaders who will provide training and guidance. If you've ever wondered how rocks are used to make the trail more sustainable, this is a fun way to find out from experienced volunteers and enjoy time in the woods! Training is provided for first-timers. Work will include narrowing the lower section of the Byron Herbert Reece Trail with gargoyles (large rocks). The hike in to the work site is a few hundred feet from the parking lot. Wear long pants and sturdy shoes/boots. Bring work gloves and a hard hat if you have your own, otherwise the club can loan you these items. Bring a lunch, snacks and plenty of water. All tools are provided by the Club. If you need additional information, please contact Mark Clemens at maclemens51@gmail.com. Registration required.
