The Role The General Manager will lead the growth and success of an international operations team based in the Northern New Jersey area. This leader is responsible for fostering an innovative, solutions-oriented environment that ensures exceptional employee engagement and unmatched customer service. Key Responsibilities ?Operational Leadership:
Provide oversight for operational performance, P&L management, and staff development. ?Team Management:
Deliver clear expectations for Import and Export teams while maintaining a positive, engaging work environment. ?Business Development:
Support sales teams by identifying prospective clients and expanding regional market share. ?Relationship Management:
Nurture ongoing relationships with global agents and local service providers. ?Compliance & Excellence:
Ensure strict adherence to regulatory requirements, including US CBP, TSA, and FDA standards. ?Process Improvement:
Utilize industry-standard software and data tools to streamline procedures and track departmental goals. ?Strategic Collaboration:
Partner with corporate leadership to align branch performance with broader organizational goals. Desired Qualifications ?Experience:
A minimum of 10+ years in international freight forwarding and customs brokerage. ?Leadership:
At least 5+ years in a management or supervisory role. ?Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or a related field is preferred. ?Communication:
Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written. ?Analytical Skills:
The ability to gather and summarize complex data for reporting and strategic decision-making. Ideal Candidate Characteristics ? A self-starter who is responsible and hardworking. ? Able to maintain sound judgment during stressful or demanding situations. ? Proven ability to delegate, prioritize, and balance staff workloads effectively. ?
