Job Description

Summary:
The Entry-Level Team Member position provides entry-level support across multiple departments at the Alaska SeaLife Center, including administrative services, operations, facilities, maintenance, guest services, customer service, program support, and executive administrative functions. This role is designed for individuals seeking broad, hands-on experience in a dynamic, mission-driven environment. Working under the direction of department supervisors, managers, and executive staff as needed, employees in this position contribute to daily organizational operations through general support tasks, customer service, facility assistance, administrative coordination, and executive-level administrative support. Assignments may vary based on organizational needs, employee interests, and individual strengths. This position is well-suited for individuals beginning their careers, returning to the workforce, or seeking to build experience across multiple functional areas within a nonprofit, education, tourism, or visitor-service environment.
Education/Training Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. No prior experience required; on-the-job training will be provided. Prior experience in customer service, hospitality, facilities support, maintenance, administrative support, or executive administrative assistance is a plus but not required.
Essential Duties:
Provides friendly, professional customer service to guests, visitors, donors, volunteers, and staff. Provides general administrative and office support, including answering phones, responding to inquiries, and directing communications appropriately. Provides executive administrative support as needed, including calendar coordination, meeting scheduling, document preparation, correspondence support, and assistance with leadership-level administrative tasks. Assists with daily operational activities across assigned departments, ensuring smooth workflow and support for organizational needs. Supports facility operations, including cleaning, upkeep, basic maintenance tasks, and general site support as needed. Assists with event preparation, setup, breakdown, logistics, and on-site operational support. Maintains organized workspaces, supplies, and shared areas to support efficiency and safety. Follows established safety procedures, operational guidelines, and organizational policies at all times. Collaborates effectively with team members across departments, including administrative leadership and executive staff, to support organizational goals and service delivery. Adapts to varying assignments and responsibilities based on departmental needs and staffing priorities. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Other Skills and Abilities:
Strong customer service skills and a positive, team-oriented attitude. Ability to communicate clearly and interact respectfully with staff, visitors, and the general public. Willingness to learn new skills and take on a variety of tasks in different departments. Basic organizational and time-management skills. Ability to follow directions and work both independently and as part of a team. Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic are essential. Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Experience in hospitality, guest services, maintenance, facilities, or administrative support is helpful but not required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. This role includes a range of physical activities, such as standing or moving for extended periods, bending, kneeling, crouching, and occasional climbing, as well as handling tools, equipment, and materials. The ability to lift and move up to 40 pounds may be needed depending on the assignment. This position may require working indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions. Occasional evenings, weekends, or holiday work may be required depending on operational and event needs.
