Job Description

Job title: Guest Services Associate Reports to: Museum Operations Manager Wage/ benefits: $16.00 per hour, Museum Store discounts, paid time off for illness (accrued)
Status/hours:
Part-time, seasonal, non-exempt. Between six and 32 hours per month, flexible schedule, includes weekends. Subject to a satisfactory review at least once within 90-day probationary period.
Overview:
Glenn H. Curtiss Museum Guest Services Associates are the first point of contact for visitors and callers requesting information. They play an important role in creating a welcoming, inclusive, and positive guest experience as well as supporting daily Museum activities and operations related to museum members and guests. The ideal candidate is dependable, courteous, enjoys helping people, demonstrates accuracy and consistency in their work, and is comfortable working in a public-facing, customer-focused role.
Responsibilities:
Welcome and assist guests upon arrive by processing their admission and orienting them to their Museum experience and to all guest support amenities; continue to support their visit by providing information about exhibits as needed; promote Museum Membership opportunities and upcoming programs events prior to their departure. Serve as retail point-of-sale clerk and assist the Museum Operations Manager with gift shop inventory and upkeep of merchandise displays. Answer incoming phone calls and direct calls to appropriate staff members. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk, lobby/ vestibule, gift shop areas, staff kitchen, and guest restroom, ensuring that all areas support a positive guest experience Support museum opening and closing procedures Perform general administrative and clerical tasks as needed to support Museum operations and outreach.
Minimum qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old and have proficient academic performance (diploma track) or have earned a high school diploma or equivalent. Must have at least two years of experience in a paid or volunteer role with responsibilities similar to those outlined here. Must be able to consistently access transportation to and from work on site at the
Museum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated proficiency in accurate and consistent cash handling and electronic point-of-sale operations. At least two years of experience (paid or volunteer) in a customer service representative role with demonstrated excellence in professional, courteous customer communication Comfortable with multi-tasking and prioritizing customer service interaction Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as part of a team, including receiving and responding to direction from supervisors. Basic proficiency with multi-line phone systems and general computer operations (PC). General appreciation for the mission of the Museum and a keen interest in learning new things. Physical Conditions of the Role Work is generally performed both standing and sitting indoors in a public setting utilizing keyboard, scanner, and touch screen point of sale equipment and a multi-line phone system. Occasionally, work is performed outdoors and/or off-site.
Candidates should have:
Ability to lift up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Ability to stand for long periods of time with brief, intermittent seated periods. Ability to bend, stoop, and reach. The Glenn H.
