8PRIMARY PURPOSE:
Teach the Guitar I classes at Coppell HS. Provide the guitar students with an opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and ensure compliance with all state, UIL, and district requirements. Collaborate with performing arts personnel both inside and outside the district, parents, and community members to provide exemplary performing arts programs for students. Plan activities to achieve district, region, and state recognition. Administer and support the United Sound program at Coppell HS for students in grades 10-12.QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Certification:
Bachelor's degree from accredited university Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for subject and level assigned Demonstrated competency in instrumental music (guitar)Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of overall operation of guitar program Ability to manage budget and private lesson personnel Knowledge of state and UIL policies governing instrumental music Ability to implement policy and procedures Ability to interpret data Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skillsEXPERIENCE
Completion of student teaching or approved internshipMAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Instructional Strategies Direct instrumental performers, including the Guitar I classes and the United Sound program. Establish performance requirements, enforce academic requirements, and verify each student's eligibility to participate/perform. Provide for guitar students' participation at extracurricular events, including concerts and UIL events where applicable. Develop and implement plans that fulfill the requirements of the district's curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual student differences. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations. Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP). Work with other member of the staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements. Obtain and use evaluative findings (including student achievement data) to determine program effectiveness and ensure that program renewal is continuous and responds to student needs. Student Growth and Development Conduct ongoing assessments of student achievement through formal and informal testing. Be a positive role model for students and support mission of the school district. Classroom Management and Organization Create an environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students. Manage student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook. Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities. Communication Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members. Budget and Inventory Develop and administer budget based on documented program needs and ensure that operations are cost effective and funds are managed wisely. Maintain current inventory of all fixed assets related to the guitar program. Oversee cleaning, repairing, and storing of all instruments and equipment. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations. Professional Grown and Development Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills. Assist in staff development as directed by campus or district administration. Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required. Comply with federal and state laws, State Board of Education rule, UIL rules, and board policy in the band area. Other Adhere to the principles as listed in the Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators. Keep informed of, and comply with, state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers. Display dependability and punctuality in all assigned duties.
