Create a Harvest Help Alert Harvest Lab Internship
Epoch Estate Wines Templeton, CA Apply Job Description:
Epoch Estate Wines in Templeton is seeking a dedicated and disciplined Harvest Lab Intern. Each year a candidate is selected to join our team for a fun, educational and busy harvest season. The successful candidate will have a strong work ethic as well as a desire to learn about winemaking and contribute to a team environment. This is a temporary position that will run from Summer to late Fall, though the dates are subject to change depending on vintage conditions. Under the general direction of the winemaking team, the successful candidate, will have the opportunity to become an integral member of the harvest team by becoming proficient in all harvest analysis performed in a lab, and provide support to the cellar by preforming duties such as fermentation monitoring, additions, and inoculations.
Lab Duties:
  • Perform ripeness analysis on incoming vineyard samples
  • Perform routine wet chemistry analysis in an accurate and timely manner
  • Perform harvest and post-harvest analysis using the Admeo Y15
  • Record results accurately
  • Collect samples from tanks and barrels during primary and malolactic fermentation
  • Participate in lab general housekeeping
  • Other duties as assigned by the winemaking team
Cellar Duties:
  • Grape processing and sorting, including assisting with pressing and/or destemming
  • Winery and equipment cleaning and sanitation
  • Manage inoculations and additions, such as yeast rehydration, and nutrients
  • Assist with fermentation management, including pump-overs, and punch downs
  • Barrel work and sampling, including racking, barrel down, topping.
Qualifications:
  • Previous lab experience required
  • Must be reliable, energetic, and ready to work
  • Must be able to follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Must be comfortable with asking for help or clarification when needed
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs. On a repetitive basis, work standing up and walk on concrete surfaces for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Must possess clean, current driver's license and have own transportation
Compensation:
