An Art Therapist directs and coordinates recreational activities for people with disabilities or illness to help them improve their emotional and physical well-being, improve motor skills and increase confidence. Leads activities involving art, crafts, and similar activities. Assists patients with disabilities to learn to use public resources such as parks and public transportation, and integrate in the community. Works with people of all ages, in schools, nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare facilities, or in parks and recreation departments.

Our practice is pediatric focused and has experience working with children who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. We provide services using a variety of modalities and types of therapy dependent upon what children and their families have determined is best for their treatment. We are professional, engaging, rewarding and our goal is to provide quality mental health services in an open, inclusive, and affirming atmosphere to children and their families in the River Region area.

Clinician Job Description Responsibilities:
  • Conduct therapy sessions with clients using a variety of therapeutic techniques such as dance therapy, art therapy, and play therapy
  • Collect and analyze data on client progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly
  • Work with clients who have a variety of needs
  • Document therapy sessions for insurance billing purposes
Qualifications:
  • Availability to service at minimum 10 clients weekly
  • Eligible for Credentialing through Alabama Medicaid and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama
  • Master's degree or higher in a mental health field (e.g. social work, counseling)
  • State licensure (LICSW, LPC)
  • Knowledge of various therapeutic techniques
