Valparaiso University Athletics is seeking a Temporary Athletic Trainer to provide coverage in the athletic training room Monday through Friday from 2:00-6:00 p.m. This position will work as a member of the Sports Medicine team to support and facilitate the health care and well-being of student-athletes.Major Responsibilities:
Evaluate illnesses and injuries and determine the appropriate course of action and level of care.- Provide athletic training services and support to student-athletes.
- Serve as a liaison regarding the medical care and well-being of student-athletes among student-athletes, coaches, physicians, health care providers, and sports medicine staff.
- Maintain and update accurate medical records for individual student-athletes, including medical histories, physical examination forms, daily injury reports, treatment records, and progress notes.
- Assist with the day-to-day operations of the athletic training room.
- Communicate effectively with coaches, student-athletes, and members of the Sports Medicine team regarding injury status, treatment, and return-to-play considerations.
- Perform other duties as assigned in support of the Sports Medicine department.
Required Knowledge and Skills:
Master's degree in Athletic Training or a related field. (Doctoral Degree preferred)- Current BOC certification
- Current Indiana Athletic Trainer license or ability to obtain Indiana licensure
- Current CPR/First Aid certification.
