POSITION SUMMARY

Provides comprehensive audiological evaluations for both general and special education students. Manages the Hearing Impaired population, selection and fitting of personal FM systems; coordinates and supervises mass hearing screenings throughout the District, staff trainings regarding the impact of hearing loss in the educational setting, and conducts inventory management. This position reports to the Director of Divisional Exceptional Student or their Designee.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Performs student assessment. Provides comprehensive audiological evaluations for both general and special education students.
  • Provides consultative services to teachers and parents as well as maintain good community relations.
  • Collaborates with classroom teachers to provide appropriate services for disabled students.

Complies with school, system, State Administrative Regulations and Board of Education Policies. Liaises with school administrators, and Division of Exceptional Students to continually enhance and promote maximum learning benefits and opportunities for students. All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

Master's degree in Audiology required.

Minimum 3 years audiological experience working with students with Students with Disabilities. Prior audiological experience in a K-12 public school environment or other environment with prior working with children of all ages; Experience with Students with Disabilities preferred. Makes decisions and final recommendations which routinely affect the activities of others.

Georgia Professional Licensure S-5.

Varied independent level of judgment: supervisor is available on an as needed basis. Limited occasional contact required with school personnel (colleagues, school administrators etc.)

Frequent contact required with the community (parents, outside agencies etc.)

Requires excellent teaching, written and verbal skills.

Applies technology concepts to improve efficiency and effectiveness of District; must be proficient with computer.

Constant (Daily) - to exercise the duty of care and protection of the health, safety, security, welfare, well-being, and best interests of the district's various stakeholders.

Normal office setting. May requires travel for off-site locations and school site visits.

Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying 20 lbs. or less
