General Responsibilities:
Provides guidance and direction at the school level, working to design, implement, coordinate and evaluate a comprehensive behavior support program. The individual will work directly with identified students who require supplemental behavior intervention and support to adopt behaviors that promote school success. The individual serves as a vital resource for school teams, providing technical expertise and support to improve student social-emotional and academic outcomes. A core responsibility of this role is conducting thorough Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) to identify the root causes of challenging behaviors and designing comprehensive Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to address them. The specialist will work in close collaboration with teachers, administrators, and families to ensure that these strategies are implemented consistently and with high fidelity across all educational settings. Education and Experience:
Possess a degree in Special Education or a related field Experience in planning and providing professional development activities to adult learners Completion of applied behavior analysis coursework and certification preferred Experience working with students on the autism spectrum highly desirable
Physical Requirements:
Sensory skills to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to: a personal computer, calculator, copier, fax machine and projection and video devices. Ability to engage in significant climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, or repetitive motions.
