Days Little Rock Clinic Little Rock, AR The Cardiac Rehab Monitor Tech observes, identifies and documents cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry readings of patients monitored through the central monitor station. Responds appropriately to the occurrences of the life-threatening or potentially life-threatening arrhythmias. Communicates patients rhythm and monitor alerts effectively with the coach caring for the patient and other department personnel as applicable. Primary Duties Operates patient monitoring equipment. Performs 3-lead EKGs. Assists with applying EKG leads using cardiac landmarks and records ECG. Interprets cardiac rhythms and pulse oximetry. Correctly measures interval and rate. Identifies rate and rhythm of monitor strips. Recognizes significant changes in rate and/or cardiac rhythm. Identifies life-threatening and/or potentially life-threatening arrhythmias. Successfully completes annual dysrhythmia competency (?). Identifies normal pulse oximetry readings and pulse oximetry range specific for each patient. Documents cardiac rhythm and pulse oximetry. Records patients rhythm for every stage of the exercise session. Documents ectopy and/or other transient rhythms. Obtains representative rhythm strip for each stage of exercise session, analyzes and mounts for patient record. Records rhythm strip to document significant changes in rate and/or rhythm. Documents pulse oximetry readings for each stage of exercise session. Maintains equipment and supplies. Cleans remote transmitters and cables between patient use. Orders electrodes to maintain sufficient supply. Promptly reports malfunctions of monitoring equipment to clinical engineering and LSI. Communicates effectively. Notifies coach of significant change in rate, rhythm of cardiac monitor or oxygen saturation reading of pulse oximetry reading. Ensures that communication in the presence of the patient is patient related.

Dysrhythmia Competency Experience:

With MA diploma, MA certification or Bachelor degree, none required. Without MA diploma, MA certification or Bachelor degree, minimum of six (6) months continuous and recent patient care experience required, preferably in an acute care setting. Knowledge of EKG and Monitor Tech experience preferred.
