$39-$63 per hour, depending on experience and qualificationsWe are seeking an experienced Cardiac Sonographer (Echocardiography Technologist) to join a growing cardiovascular program at our healthcare organization in Montrose, Colorado.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled sonographer who enjoys working in an in-perient environment, performing advanced cardiac imaging, and collaborating closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals.
The position offers a varied workload that includes inpatient and outpatient studies, with opportunities to work with advanced cardiac imaging technology, support an expanding cardiovascular program, and help train future sonographers.
We are particularly interested in candidates with strong inpatient experience who are comfortable handling urgent studies and adapting to changing clinical priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform high-quality transthoracic echocardiograms (TTE), transesophageal echocardiograms (TEE), and stress echocardiography studies.
- Perform advanced cardiac imaging, including 3D echocardiography and strain imaging.
- Conduct inpatient, outpatient, ER, and ICU studies, including STAT and urgent examinations.
- Assist with cardiac assessments involving Impella devices and other advanced cardiac support equipment, as appropriate to training and experience.
- Perform contrast-enhanced echocardiography and bubble studies.
- Obtain accurate diagnostic images and measurements to support physicians in patient evaluation and treatment planning.
- Complete imaging documentation and reports in accordance with departmental protocols.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, nursing staff, and other clinical teams to support timely patient care.
- Adapt to changing patient volumes and clinical priorities throughout the day.
- Help mentor and precept echocardiography students through a local educational partnership.
- Participate in ongoing education, training, and professional development.
Required Qualifications
- Current ARDMS or CCI credential appropriate for cardiac sonography, as accepted by the employer.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Demonstrated experience performing echocardiography in a clinical or in-patient setting.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and echocardiographic imaging techniques.
- Ability to perform studies independently and maintain high imaging quality.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and patient-care skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with TTE, TEE, and stress echocardiography.
- Experience with 3D echo, strain imaging, and advanced valve assessment.
- Recent inpatient hospital experience, including ER, ICU, and urgent studies.
- Familiarity with Impella positioning assessments, intra-aortic balloon pumps, or other advanced cardiac support devices.
- Experience with contrast echocardiography and bubble studies.
- Additional vascular ultrasound experience, including carotid, arterial, venous, and ABI studies.
- Experience with Philips, GE, or Siemens ultrasound equipment.
- Previous experience mentoring students or serving as a clinical preceptor.
- Experience preparing independent reports and maintaining accurate documentation.
