UF Health seeks a Surgical Tech II - Cardiovascular to support complex cardiac and vascular procedures in a high-acuity academic medical center. In this role, you will prepare the OR, assemble and manage specialized cardiovascular instruments and equipment, maintain strict sterile technique, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team throughout procedures. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurses, and perfusion staff to deliver safe, efficient, patient-centered care while documenting accurately and supporting quality and safety initiatives. Responsibilities Prepare operating room and specialized cardiovascular equipment for procedures Maintain sterile field and ensure adherence to infection control standards Anticipate surgeon and team needs during cardiac and vascular surgeries Handle, pass, and account for instruments, sponges, and implants Assist with patient positioning, draping, and room turnover Operate and troubleshoot basic OR equipment and devices Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, nurses, and perfusion team for safe care Document supplies, implants, and counts according to policy Support quality, safety, and process-improvement initiatives Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergent cardiovascular cases Required Skills Cardiovascular and cardiothoracic surgical procedures Sterile technique and aseptic practices Operating room instrumentation and setup Cardiac and vascular surgical instruments and trays Infection prevention and control Intraoperative patient safety and positioning Surgical counts and documentation Use of OR equipment (electrocautery, suction, video towers) Reading and following surgeon preference cards Team communication in high-acuity OR environment
