Job Description

UF Health is seeking a CVT Surgical Technologist to support complex cardiovascular and thoracic procedures in our Gainesville academic medical center. In this role, you will prepare and maintain a sterile field, set up specialized CVT instruments and equipment, and anticipate surgeon needs throughout surgery. You will collaborate closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nurses to promote safety, efficiency, and optimal patient outcomes. Responsibilities Prepare operating rooms and specialized cardiovascular/thoracic instruments and supplies Maintain strict sterile technique and aseptic conditions during all procedures Anticipate surgeon and team needs throughout CVT surgeries Handle, count, and track instruments, sponges, and sharps accurately Assist with patient positioning, prepping, and draping for procedures Operate and troubleshoot basic OR equipment related to CVT cases Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, and nursing to ensure safe, efficient workflow Follow infection prevention, safety, and regulatory standards Document required perioperative information according to hospital policies Participate in ongoing education, skills development, and quality improvement initiatives Required Skills Cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures Sterile technique and aseptic practices OR instrumentation and equipment setup Intraoperative instrument handling Patient positioning and draping Hemostasis and suture management support Infection prevention and control Electronic health record familiarity Operating room safety protocols Emergency response in the OR
