Job Summary:
The Interventional Radiology Technologist assists with diagnostic and therapeutic procedures by performing advanced imaging scans and supporting physicians during complex interventional procedures. The technologist is responsible for patient preparation, positioning, image acquisition, contrast administration, radiation safety, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Responsibilities:
Assist Radiologists and Physician Assistants during interventional and therapeutic procedures. Perform specialized imaging procedures, including angiography, complex vascular, non-vascular, and interventional procedures. Prepare and position patients accurately while selecting appropriate technical parameters for imaging. Administer contrast media and medications within the approved scope of practice and according to state and federal regulations. Monitor patients during procedures and promptly report any abnormal findings or changes. Follow radiation safety protocols and maintain compliance with established guidelines. Review and recommend updates to imaging protocols and procedures as needed. Ensure all activities meet regulatory agency and quality standards.
Required Licensure & Certifications:
BLS certification from American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross. Registered Radiologic Technologist (ARRT - Radiography) certification required. Cardiographic Technologist credential from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required before hire or transfer.
