Oakton College is looking for a dynamic and student-centered Adjunct Faculty member to join our Cardiac Sonography Program in Evanston, IL . As an Adjunct Faculty member, you will inspire and educate students in a culturally diverse learning environment, leveraging active learning methods and evolving technologies to enhance student success. Compensation :
Part-time faculty are paid on a lecture hour equivalents (LHE) basis. For most courses, the LHE is the same as a credit hour. For others, the LHE represents additional work for teaching the class, such as grading papers for Composition classes or teaching a class with a laboratory section (computers, languages, and the sciences); in those cases, the LHE represents a figure higher than the credit hour. All part-time faculty start at the beginning pay rates, regardless of the level and type of experience obtained elsewhere. For the 2026-27 academic year rates are 1191/LHE for faculty without doctorates and 1262/LHE for faculty with doctorates.
Position Responsibilities:
Create a course syllabus for each assigned class that aligns with the standard syllabus and outlines course objectives, content, and grading criteria Develop engaging course presentations and instructional materials and deliver dynamic instruction to students in person on campus or online Instruct, advise, and support enrolled students while also evaluating their performance and maintaining clear, accurate records and grades Participate in department meetings and adhere to instructional decisions to ensure alignment with academic goals and standards Hold regular office hours, ensuring at least one hour per week for every three credit hours taught
Position Requirements:
Associate's degree or above required Collegiate teaching experience—including online instruction—is preferred but not required 2 years+ (4,000 hours) of clinical sonography experience Credentialing specific to
Adult Cardiac Sonography:
American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), and RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) Apply today and become part of a mission-driven team that fosters excellence in education!
