As a Substance Use Disorder Professional at PorchLight, you'll have the opportunity to build relationships with men experiencing homelessness and help them access the support they need to move toward greater stability. You'll be part of an interdisciplinary Behavioral Health team, working alongside case managers, shelter staff and community providers. PorchLight is a low/no-barrier shelter grounded in trauma-informed care and harm reduction. ABOUT PORCHLIGHT
PorchLight partners with men and the community to create a path from homelessness to stable living. Since 1993, we have grown to provide shelter, street outreach, day center services, permanent housing, behavioral health services, case management and other essential support for men experiencing homelessness on King County's Eastside. ABOUT THE ROLE
The SUDP provides substance use services and recovery support to PorchLight clients, including assessment, counseling, care planning, groups, referrals and connections to treatment. You'll coordinate behavioral health and substance use services with PorchLight's interdisciplinary team and outside providers, serving as a primary point of contact for clients who need substance use, recovery support and/or co-occurring disorder treatment. Success in this role starts with relationships. We're looking for someone who can build trust with clients, collaborate effectively with colleagues and community partners, and bring sound clinical judgment, flexibility and compassion to a complex environment.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
In this role, you will:
- Coordinate the delivery of services to clients using trauma-informed care.
- Network with other agencies and organizations to deliver services to clients.
- Assist clients in navigating the process to obtain resources from community service providers.
- Prepare client need assessment and develop care plans for clients (e.g., ASAM, ISP).
- Facilitate goal setting and care planning with clients.
- Educate clients about service options and available resources.
- Identify clients at PorchLight needing higher level of care and coordinate appropriate care
- Conduct groups related to behavioral health/substance use treatment and recovery support services.
- Provides crisis intervention and ongoing support to clients.
- Serve as a consistent, positive, and appropriate role model to the clients that we serve. Service Documentation and Evaluation
- Maintain thorough, accurate records of work with every client.
- Attend inter-team client staffing meetings.
- Maintain databases by timely entering client data.
- Communicate regularly with staff via email, incident reports, and briefings.

- Attend all job-related meetings, including program staff meetings and agency-wide meetings.
- Participate in opportunities for learning and skill maintenance/development, including internal and external training and workshops.
- Assist with other duties assigned.
- Provide psychoeducation and/or other clinical training to clients and staff

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience that fulfills SUDP licensing requirements.
- Full SUDP licensure in Washington State in good standing.
- Experience completing SUD assessments and coordinating appropriate ASAM levels of care.
- Ability to maintain appropriate client and staff boundaries and confidentiality.
- Strong computer and documentation skills.
- Ability to follow NAADAC Code of Ethics and applicable clinical practice guidelines.
- Valid state-approved driver's license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Execul, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
Preferred:
- Two years of experience as an SUDP.
- Experience working with people experiencing homelessness, substance use disorders and co-occurring behavioral health conditions.
- Experience in shelter or residential settings.
- Knowledge of community resources available to people experiencing homelessness and co-occurring conditions.
- Experience in three or more of the following areas: behavioral health, substance use disorder/recovery, counseling, trauma-informed care, case management, housing navigation, community building, or inpatient/outpatient behavioral health treatment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position requires the ability to sit, walk and/or stand for prolonged periods; access and navigate PorchLight facilities; and safely lift and carry at least 35 pounds, with occasional lifting, carrying or pushing of up to 45 pounds.
