Job Overview Join our dedicated healthcare team as a Hospice Medical Records Specialist, where you will play a vital role in managing and safeguarding patient information within the hospice care setting. Your expertise will ensure the accurate, timely, and compliant handling of medical records, supporting seamless clinical operations and maintaining the highest standards of healthcare privacy protection. Responsibilities Organize, maintain, and update electronic health records (EHR) and medical records in accordance with health information regulatory compliance standards. Ensure all documentation adheres to clinical confidentiality policies and healthcare privacy protection regulations. Collaborate with clinical staff to accurately code medical records using appropriate medical coding standards for billing and revenue cycle management purposes. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems efficiently, including data entry, retrieval, and secure storage of patient information. Verify the completeness and accuracy of medical documentation, ensuring compliance with health regulation policies and medical terminology standards. Support the revenue cycle management process by ensuring proper documentation for billing and reimbursement activities. Respond promptly to internal requests for medical records while maintaining strict confidentiality and security protocols. Requirements Proven experience in medical office administration or health information management within a healthcare or hospice setting. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and familiarity with electronic health record (EHR/EMR) systems. Strong knowledge of health regulation policies, healthcare privacy laws, and clinical confidentiality policies. Excellent understanding of medical terminology, medical coding practices, and records management procedures. Ability to navigate health information regulatory compliance requirements effectively. Exceptional organizational skills with attention to detail to ensure accuracy in all recordkeeping activities. Customer service orientation with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally with clinical staff and external agencies.
