The Health Information Management (HIM) Department at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore manages all patient health information and medical records. The department serves as the hub where patient data is collected, stored, protected, and utilized for clinical care, billing, and regulatory compliance. HIM Chart Deficiency Specialist The HIM Chart Deficiency Specialist is responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of patient medical records in accordance with hospital bylaws, policies, and regulatory requirements. This role supports the HIM Analysis and/or Physician Incomplete areas and assists with coordinating the daily activities of HIM Technician areas.
Key Responsibilities:
Review discharged patient records for completeness within 48 hours of discharge, ensuring adherence to hospital policy, accreditation, and regulatory standards. Identify and resolve physician deficiencies, ensuring accurate and complete documentation. Effectively communicate with hospital staff, physicians, and vendors to resolve documentation issues and maintain record quality.
Requirements:
Preferred:
Associate's degree or AS in Health Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a relevant field. 3-5 years relevant experience required. AS in HIM, Healthcare Administration or relevant education and training. Years of experience accepted in lieu of education.
