Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented Clinical Lab Scientist to join our laboratory team on a per diem basis. In this role, you will perform a variety of clinical laboratory tests that support the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of patients while ensuring the highest standards of quality, accuracy, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate has experience in Anatomic Pathology (AP) and Histology , demonstrates excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills, and is committed to delivering timely, accurate laboratory results in a fast-paced healthcare environment. Key Responsibilities Perform laboratory testing following established pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures. Ensure the accuracy, quality, and integrity of laboratory results. Perform quality control testing, equipment calibration, verification, and preventive maintenance. Identify and troubleshoot testing issues, documenting corrective actions and notifying laboratory leadership as needed. Review and evaluate abnormal test results according to departmental protocols. Communicate and document critical laboratory values promptly to clinicians and patient care units. Participate in laboratory quality assurance initiatives, proficiency testing, and inspection readiness. Maintain compliance with CAP, NYSDOH, AABB, Joint Commission, and other regulatory standards. Participate in validation studies, staff training, and competency assessments. Maintain inventory, including reagent lot numbers, expiration dates, labeling, and quality control documentation. Complete all required annual education, mandatory training, and departmental in-services. Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, and safety protocols. Perform additional duties as assigned. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related laboratory science. AP/Histology experience required. New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License (CLT) upon hire OR eligibility as required by New York State. NYS Histotechnologist License (for Anatomic Pathology assignments). Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent attention to detail. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to troubleshoot laboratory instruments and testing issues. Ability to work independently while maintaining quality and productivity standards. Flexibility to work varying shifts and schedules.
Pay:
$39.93 - $51.91 per hour
