40 hours per week (Full-time varied shift) Illuminate Diagnostics is a CLIA-certified clinical laboratory delivering fast, accurate STI screening and diagnostic testing services. As a growing lab, we're looking for a reliable and highly skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) Generalist to join our team and help expand testing capabilities and maintain the highest standards of testing quality.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Perform routine and specialized testing across assigned clinical specialty areas (Chemistry, Hematology, Coagulation, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Immunohematology, and Molecular/PCR-based testing) Collect, receive, and prepare specimens in accordance with established protocols, ensuring proper labeling, chain of custody, and sample integrity) Perform manual testing procedures where automated methods are not applicable Identify and escalate QC failures, critical values, or result discrepancies according to lab protocol Operate, calibrate, and maintain automated laboratory instrumentation; troubleshoot and resolve instrument or workflow issues Evaluate, interpret, and verify test results for accuracy prior to release Maintain compliance with CLIA, CAP, and other applicable state and federal regulatory requirements Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) precisely and participate in SOP review/updates as needed Assist with validation and implementation of new test methods and instrumentation as the lab expands testing capabilities Communicate effectively with lab leadership, phlebotomy staff, and other departments to support smooth daily operations
Education:
Bachelor's Degrees:
Biology, Chemistry, or related science field
Qualifications:
Active California CLS license required Prior experience in a CLIA-certified, clinical laboratory preferred Experience with PCR/molecular testing platforms a plus Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet turnaround-time deadlines Reliable, team-oriented, and comfortable in a face-paced lab environment
