Job Description

Medical Technologist Port Charlotte, FL Full-time Full-time A regional laboratory network serving hospitals, physician practices, surgery centers, and commercial clients throughout Florida is seeking a Medical Technologist to join its Port Charlotte laboratory team. This organization supports a mix of hospital-based rapid-response labs and centralized core laboratory operations that collectively serve more than 250 acute care and rehabilitation facilities across the state. This position is responsible for performing accurate, timely diagnostic testing across multiple laboratory disciplines. Work includes processing routine and stat samples within required turnaround times, as well as completing proficiency testing within established guidelines to maintain compliance and quality standards. The Medical Technologist is expected to use independent clinical judgment when reviewing and validating patient results. Responsibilities include performing delta checks, interpreting findings for consistency, monitoring pending and completed worklists, and ensuring smooth handoffs between shifts when needed. The role also includes oversight of quality control procedures in accordance with laboratory protocols, as well as proper escalation, documentation, and follow-through on critical or abnormal results. In the absence of supervisory staff, this role may assume additional departmental responsibility to support continuity of operations and ensure consistent laboratory performance.
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Medical Technology or related field required Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related science preferred Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Medical Technologist required Current State of Florida Technologist license required Certification or licensure in one or more laboratory disciplines required (Generalist strongly preferred; areas may include Chemistry, Hematology, Blood Bank, Serology, or Microbiology)
