Responsibilities of Medical Technologist:
Shift:
12- hours Nights 36 hours/week. (3
- 12) 13-week contract Perform a wide range of laboratory tests including clinical chemistry, microbiology, hematology, immunoassays, and molecular diagnostics such as
PCR, RNA
extraction, DNA isolation, and flow cytometry. Manage specimen collection and processing procedures with precision, ensuring proper venipuncture techniques and aseptic methods. Operate and maintain medical laboratory equipment including blood analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, and diagnostic instruments while adhering to manufacturer guidelines. Implement laboratory quality control protocols to ensure accuracy and reliability of test results in compliance with CLIA regulations and hospital standards. Analyze data generated from assays using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) and perform detailed data management and analysis to support clinical decision-making. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on clinical trials and research projects by interpreting diagnostic test results and providing technical expertise. Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, including blood banking procedures, specimen handling, and infection control practices. Maintain comprehensive documentation of laboratory activities, test results, and quality assurance records for audit purposes. Support laboratory management in inventory control, ordering supplies, and optimizing workflow efficiency within the laboratory setting. Experience Proven experience working in a clinical or research laboratory environment with expertise in medical laboratory procedures and techniques. Demonstrated proficiency in performing immunoassays such as ELISA along with molecular techniques including
PCR, RNA
extraction, DNA isolation, and flow cytometry. Familiarity with Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) for data entry, result reporting, and specimen tracking. Knowledge of CLIA regulations governing laboratory operations and quality assurance standards. Experience in blood banking procedures including phlebotomy and venipuncture techniques for specimen collection. Strong understanding of physiology, anatomy, hematology, microbiology testing methods, and clinical chemistry testing protocols. Prior hospital or healthcare facility experience is preferred; familiarity with medical terminology is essential for accurate interpretation of results. Ability to operate complex medical equipment safely while maintaining high standards of accuracy and precision.
