A Clinical Laboratory Scientist analyzes samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for diagnostic and research purposes within a medical laboratory or healthcare facility. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests. Looks for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, tests for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment.

Medical Technologist
I JOB DUTIES
Performs and completes all tests according to departmental procedure manuals within established turnaround times; prioritizes tasks appropriately. Handles specimens according to departmental guidelines including unacceptable specimens and specimens for transport to reference labs. Records and reports testing data according to department guidelines. Performs and records required quality assurance/control data, recognizes outliers and takes corrective action as necessary Performs and reports proficiency tests as assigned Observes and abides by all mandated safety policies in performing duties. Performs instrument troubleshooting, repairs and maintenance as required and/or assigned. Observes reagent and supply inventories, including expiration dates and reports re-order needs to the supervisor or person responsible for supply ordering. Performs phlebotomy duties as needed. Performs specimen triage duties as needed Demonstrates initiative and makes good decisions in situations not covered by policies. Accepts and delivers constructive criticism in a positive manner. Interacts with and assists with training of students in the laboratory. Performs additional duties as assigned
