A Clinical Laboratory Scientist analyzes samples of body fluids, tissues, and other substances for diagnostic and research purposes within a medical laboratory or healthcare facility. Perform complex chemical, biological, hematological, immunologic, microscopic, and bacteriologic tests. Looks for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms, tests for drug levels in the blood to show how a patient is responding to treatment.

Performs a variety of routine and special diagnostic procedures on clinical specimens for use in diagnosis and treatment of diseases. Performs high complexity testing according to established procedures. Validates and report results of tests performed. Performs and documents Quality Control. Performs instrument and equipment maintenance according to policy and procedures. Maintains adequate stock of reagents and supplies. Participates in continuing education.
B.S. Degree in Medical Technology or related science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics) OR Certificate of Completion of a Medical Technology Training Program. OR Associates Degree in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science or related science
