Job Summary and Qualifications Point Of Care Lab Coordinator oversees point-of-care testing activities and ensures that quality standards and regulatory compliance, as specified by College of American Pathologists (CAP), Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA), and Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), and (National Committee for Clinical Laboratory Standards (NCCLS), are achieved. What you will do in this role: Reconciles instrument databases with patient records. Reviews records, identifies problems, makes corrections, and communicates errors to co-workers and nursing staff. Monitors changes in regulations that effect hospital point-of-care testing and assures compliance with standards set forth by accrediting agencies: CAP, CLIA, JCAHO and NCCLS. Functions as project manager in developing and directing the point-of-care testing. Understands, performs, develops procedures and monitors quality control and quality assurance. Anticipates new needs and evaluates current test menu, instrumentation and technology, and recommends changes in POC testing to eliminate or add testing clinically relevant for rapid diagnosis.
What qualifications you will need:
Minimum Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in biological science. 5 years experience in Clinical Laboratory is strongly preferred.
Minimum License and Certificates Required:
One of the following certifications is required: MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), CLT(NCA), MLT(ASCP), or MLT(AMT) Certification is waived for those with 10 years of lab experience Methodist ER Converse serves the Converse and surrounding area with our 24/7 freestanding emergency center. This 12,650 square-foot facility features 12 all-private treatment rooms and a full range of services such as radiology, full-service laboratory, telemetry, immediate intervention for serious emergencies, and 24-hour monitoring and testing of cardiac patients. We also offer unique use of a Picture Archiving Communications System (PACS), which allows staff to electronically transmit diagnostic images from Methodist ER Converse to any Methodist credentialed physician's office, specialist or any Methodist hospital emergency room for seamless follow-up.
