JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the processing of laboratory specimens and reporting of results in all areas of the clinical laboratory. Maintains laboratory records. Follows laboratory policies and procedures; maintains quality control and quality improvement practices in the laboratory.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

Ability to function in all areas of the clinical laboratory: blood bank, chemistry, hematology, microbiology, and serology/immunology as needed. Responsible for performing high-complexity testing. Alters or adjusts methods and procedures for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient. Performs quality control procedures and instrument maintenance checks. Has knowledge and ability to perform test validation, calibration and correlation studies. Understands the statistical reports for quality control and how to apply corrective action for test results that are out of acceptable control ranges.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

- Education, Experience & Licensure Medical Technologist I Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology and Medical laboratory Technician MLT(ASCP)/(AMT) certified or eligible within one year of hire. Medical Technologist II Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, Biology, Microbiology, Medical Lab Science or related field or equivalent experience required. Medical Technologist MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP) or AMT registered or eligible within one year of hire.
