The Ground Clinical Educator is responsible for the implementation and coordination of education and training programs for Life Flight Network's ground transport clinicians. This position serves as the subject matter expert for ground-based clinical education and ensures clinical staff are prepared to provide safe, effective, and evidence-based patient care while maintaining compliance with organizational, regulatory, accreditation, and state EMS requirements. The Ground Clinical Educator partners closely with Clinical Education, Clinical Operations, Quality, Medical Direction, and Base Leadership to advance clinical excellence, operational readiness, workforce development, and employee engagement throughout the ground transport program. Maintains operational clinical proficiency through scheduled field shifts (approximately 0.3 FTE operational commitment). This position may be based out of our operations in Aurora, Redmond, Newport, Lincoln City, OR, or the Tri-Cities, WA area.
QUALIFICATIONS
Current unrestricted Paramedic license in applicable state(s) of operation required Bachelor's degree in healthcare, education, nursing, EMS, or related field preferred Critical Care Paramedic (CCP-C), FP-C, or other advanced certification preferred Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in EMS, critical care transport, or emergency medicine required Two (2) years of clinical education, preceptor, field training, or leadership experience preferred Demonstrated experience in curriculum development, competency assessment, and adult learning principles Current instructor status in ACLS, PALS, BLS, and other applicable certifications or ability to obtain within six months required Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills Ability to travel throughout Life Flight Network service areas
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Ground Clinical Education Program Oversight Develop, deliver, and evaluate educational programs specific to ground transport clinicians Maintain standardization of onboarding, annual competencies, continuing education, and remedial education across all ground operations Ensure educational content aligns with organizational patient care guidelines, evidence-based practice, and Medical Director expectations Identify educational needs through quality reviews, performance data, operational trends, and stakeholder feedback Develop corrective action or improvement education plans for identified clinical performance gaps Support implementation of new technology, equipment, medications, and clinical initiatives through education and competency validation New Hire Onboarding Coordinate and support orientation programs for new ground clinicians Develop and maintain onboarding pathways, competency checklists, and evaluation tools Conduct clinical skills assessments and validate competency progression throughout orientation Collaborate with Clinical Field Trainers, Clinical Managers, and preceptors to ensure successful transition to independent practice Monitor onboarding completion rates and identify opportunities to improve orientation efficiency Competency Management Develop and administer annual competency programs for all ground clinicians Conduct clinical skills verification and scenario-based competency assessments Maintain documentation and records supporting competency completion Ensure required certifications and recurring education requirements are tracked and maintained Simulation and Continuing Education Design and facilitate simulation-based education programs for ground personnel Coordinate skills labs, field exercises, and high-acuity/low-occurrence (HALO) training opportunities Deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on educational offerings Collaborate with specialty teams and clinical leadership to develop advanced training opportunities Quality, Compliance, and Accreditation Support Collaborate with Quality and Patient Safety personnel to identify trends requiring educational intervention Support compliance with CAMTS standards, EMS regulations, state licensing requirements, and organizational policies Assist with preparation for accreditation visits, audits, and regulatory reviews Maintain documentation required to demonstrate educational compliance Workforce Development and Engagement Serve as an educational mentor and resource for ground clinicians Promote professional development, clinical excellence, and career advancement opportunities Support Clinical Base Trainers and operational leaders with educational resources and coaching Participate in retention and engagement initiatives designed to strengthen workforce development Operational Collaboration Partner with Clinical Managers to ensure educational priorities align with operational needs Coordinate educational schedules to minimize operational disruption while maximizing participation Maintain regular communication with base leadership regarding training needs and clinician development opportunities Participate in committees, workgroups, and organizational initiatives as assigned Operational Clinical Practice Maintain active clinical credentials and operational competency Participate in assigned field shifts to maintain clinical proficiency and operational awareness Serve as a role model for clinical practice, safety, professionalism, and service excellence Benefits That Go Above and Beyond At Life Flight Network , we believe our team members deserve more than just a job — they deserve a rewarding, supported, and balanced life.
