Outreach and Community Impact Manager About the Position Akeso Community Health is seeking a motivated, compassionate, and community-focused Outreach and Community Impact Specialist to help expand access to HIV/STI prevention, testing, and healthcare services. This hands-on, non-supervisory position combines community outreach, HIV testing, phlebotomy, STI specimen collection, health education, PrEP and PEP navigation, patient referrals, client follow-up, and social media engagement. Working under the Outreach and Community Impact Manager, the Specialist provides services in our medical office, mobile health unit, partner locations, and community settings. The ideal candidate enjoys connecting with diverse communities, is comfortable discussing sexual health, and follows through to help people successfully connect to care. Key Responsibilities Conduct rapid HIV testing, pre-test and post-test counseling, and required assessments and screenings for consenting clients. Perform phlebotomy and collect blood, urine, and swab specimens. Label, process, centrifuge, and prepare specimens for laboratory transport. Coordinate a direct handoff of all new reactive results for same-day provider evaluation and linkage to care in every testing setting. Educate clients about HIV/STI prevention, PrEP, PEP, harm reduction, and available services. Help clients schedule and complete appointments, access assistance resources, address transportation or insurance barriers, and remain engaged in care. Conduct outreach and education at community organizations, recovery and mental health programs, partner sites, underserved neighborhoods, and nightlife venues. Develop assigned referral relationships and conduct regular partner visits to generate referrals and completed appointments while respecting client choice. Support assigned event logistics, mobile-unit readiness, supplies, setup, breakdown, and welcoming client flow. Conduct approved virtual outreach and assist with social media posts, stories, reels, educational content, and event promotion. Maintain accurate testing, specimen, outreach, referral, follow-up, and linkage records in designated EHR, CRM, CTLS, and reporting systems. Participate in assigned community events, including Miami Beach Pride and other designated major events. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Current phlebotomy certification at hire and demonstrated competency in venipuncture and blood collection. Experience collecting, labeling, processing, centrifuging, and preparing laboratory specimens. Current Florida

HIV/AIDS

500 and 501 Prevention Counseling, Testing, and Referral certification at hire, with documented HIV testing and counseling experience. Relevant experience in community outreach, healthcare, health education, patient navigation, social services, or a related field. Ability to complete required Akeso testing-technology training and competency verification. Strong communication, organization, follow-up, and documentation skills. Experience with email, spreadsheets, electronic health records, CRM systems, and professional social media outreach. Reliable personal vehicle, valid driver's license, and required automobile insurance. Availability for regular local travel, evenings, weekends, and major community events. Comfort discussing sexual health and working respectfully with diverse communities in nontraditional settings. Ability to successfully complete a Level 2 background screening. Preferred Qualifications Associate's or bachelor's degree in public health, social work, healthcare, health education, or a related field. Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Haitian Creole. Experience with PrEP/PEP navigation, Ryan White services, mobile healthcare, recovery programs, or communities facing barriers to care. Performance Expectations Success is measured through HIV testing, referrals, completed appointments, PrEP engagement, linkage to HIV care, client follow-up, and community relationships. Work Environment Work takes place in clinical, mobile, outdoor, community, and nightlife settings, including bars, nightclubs, adult entertainment venues, and sex clubs. Duties include local travel, standing, handling clinical specimens and supplies, and setting up outreach activities.
