Turningpoint for Victims of Domestic and Sexual Violence is looking for a compassionate, dependable Part-Time Advocate to join our team in River Falls, WI. As an Advocate, you will provide support, advocacy, education, and crisis intervention to participants experiencing domestic or sexual violence. You'll help create a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for individuals and families staying in our shelter, while also responding to crisis calls and texts. This is an opportunity to do work that matters—supporting people as they navigate difficult circumstances and helping them identify their own goals, choices, and next steps during and after experiencing domestic and/or sexual violence.

Position Details Part-time:

approximately 6-12 hours per week Primarily evening and weekend shifts No overnight shifts Flexibility to work some weekends and holidays is required Training is provided—previous experience is not required What You'll Do Provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to shelter participants and their families Respond to crisis calls and texts and provide appropriate support and resources Assist participants with safety planning, advocacy, and connecting to community resources Help maintain a clean, safe, secure, and welcoming shelter environment Monitor shelter activity and respond appropriately to participant needs Complete required documentation and communicate important information with the team Work collaboratively with Turningpoint's programs and staff Support participants while respecting their choices, privacy, dignity, and independence What We're Looking For You don't need to have all the answers. We are looking for someone who: Is compassionate, empathetic, and nonjudgmental Can listen without trying to "fix" someone's situation Is comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds and life experiences Can maintain healthy professional boundaries Communicates clearly, both verbally and in writing Can work independently and as part of a team Is dependable and able to respond calmly during stressful situations Has an interest in supporting individuals impacted by domestic and sexual violence Is at least 18 years old Why Turningpoint?
