Harrisburg Medical Center Position Summary Responsible for collecting, processing, and performing testing of patient specimens.
Principal Accountabilities Standards of Performance:

• MLS (ASCP) or equivalent certification required Experience and Skills 5+ years of experience in a clinical laboratory. Leadership and technical expertise. Physical Activities Intermittent hand manipulation required Intermittent lifting and carrying of 50 pounds Role Specific Responsibilities Supports and communicates Laboratory initiatives and philosophies. Perform routine waived, moderately, and high complex testing. Collects, Processes and Receives specimens (including blood, urine, fecal, body fluid) to be analyzed in all departments of the clinical laboratory (listed above). Evaluates and solves problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens of analysis of all age ranges. Prepare samples for testing and send out to reference laboratories Maintain laboratory equipment and stock supplies. Performs complex laboratory procedures; recognizes deviation from expected results; analyzes and corrects problems using scientific principles under direct supervision per CLIA requirements. Analyzes quality control data, makes judgments concerning results and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision. Assist in troubleshooting and instrument maintenance. Participate in training programs. Participate in accreditation activities. Participate in comparison studies and validation of new equipment. Assist in troubleshooting and resolving instrument failures. Oversee quality control programs and proficiency testing. Work closely with supervisors on laboratory operations. Assist with regulatory compliance and inspections. Serve as a mentor to fellow coworkers. Provide continuing education for staff. Assist in writing and revising laboratory procedures. Supervise daily operations and serve as a key operator for testing platforms. Lead troubleshooting and quality improvement initiatives. Ensure adherence to CAP, CLIA, and hospital regulations. Collaborate with leadership on new testing implementation. Assist in maintaining accreditation and compliance documentation. Serve as a subject matter expert in one or more lab disciplines.
