Job Description

Cytotechnologist in South Carolina - Permanent Hire Primary Responsibilities Microscopic evaluation of gyn, non-gyn, and FNA specimens Participate in continuing education, gyn and non-gyn CAP surveys, and annual proficiency testing event Maintain QA and QC documentation
Work Schedule Monday-Friday:
Flexible start between 7am-8am Job Type Full Time Essential Functions Examine gynecological and/or non-gynecological slides daily according to department protocols Records findings in computer system Records required data on daily screening and departmental logs Identify and correct problems affecting test performance Communicate section information/issues to appropriate individuals Perform instrument maintenance and troubleshooting Assist in maintaining effective QA/QC programs Participate in continuing education and proficiency testing events Adhere to lab safety precautions and procedures Perform job responsibilities in alignment with industry best practices Educational/Training Requirements B.S. or M.S in an Accredited Cytotechnology program Certificate in Cytotechnology (ASCP) ThinPrep Morphology Certification Hologic Review Scope Training Annual PT Testing Experience Requirements Minimum of three years' experience as a cytotechnologist in Gyn, Non-gyn, and FNA screening preferred Skills and Abilities Ability to sit for extended periods of time while maintaining a quiet zone environment Ability to read, write, and speak clearly in English Ability to understand and use anatomic pathology and medical terminology Work Environment The job may involve exposure to blood-borne pathogens, and/or toxic/biohazardous materials common in a laboratory environment. Safety training and personal protective equipment will be provided.
