As an EFDA, you will support dentists in providing comprehensive dental treatments, ensuring efficient clinic operations, and maintaining the highest standards of infection control and patient safety. This role offers the opportunity to utilize your expanded clinical skills, including restorative procedures, while engaging with a general dentistry patient population. Duties Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontics, and endodontics treatments. Perform expanded functions within your scope, including placing and finishing restorations, coronal polishing, sealants, and topical fluoride. Fabricate and place temporary crowns. Prepare treatment areas with proper aseptic techniques and ensure all dental instruments and materials are ready for use. Take and develop dental X-rays, including 3D scans, ensuring accuracy and adherence to safety protocols. Take digital impressions. Manage patient records using EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, maintaining HIPAA compliance at all times. Provide chairside assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency. Educate patients on oral health care practices and post-treatment instructions while addressing their questions confidently. Qualifications Active California EFDA certification, with current licensure. Proven experience in dental assisting within a general dentistry setting. Proficiency with dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic EMR systems. Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control protocols, and aseptic techniques. Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners safely and effectively. Excellent communication skills to collaborate with team members such as dental receptionists and specialists. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security at all times.
