In this vital role, you will assist dentists during procedures, manage patient comfort, and ensure clinical protocols are meticulously followed. Your energetic approach and attention to detail will contribute to creating a welcoming environment for patients of all ages, especially in pediatric dentistry and oral surgery settings. Responsibilities Assist dentists during a variety of dental procedures including general dentistry, endodontics, prosthodontics, and oral surgery with precision and professionalism. Prepare treatment rooms and sterilize dental instruments following strict infection prevention management and aseptic techniques. Take and develop dental X-rays, including digital imaging and 3D scans, ensuring accurate medical documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Manage patient records using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or similar software, maintaining clinical confidentiality policies at all times. Monitor vital signs and medical history of patients to ensure safety during procedures, especially in pediatric dentistry cases. Support patient management by explaining treatment procedures clearly, answering questions about dental terminology, and providing compassionate patient care. Maintain dental equipment functionality and assist with dental instrument processing to uphold infection control standards across the clinic. Qualifications Valid RDA license with current registration; experience in dental assisting is preferred but not mandatory for motivated candidates eager to learn. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with patient management software is a plus. Knowledge of dental terminology, medical terminology, and clinical procedures including X-ray techniques and dental sterilization procedures. Experience in pediatric dentistry or working with children is advantageous; understanding of pediatric-specific protocols is highly valued. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic technique, and healthcare infection prevention standards. Ability to perform chairside assisting efficiently while demonstrating excellent communication skills with patients and team members. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and oral surgery enhances your ability to support complex procedures effectively.
