Dental Assistant / Registered Dental Assistant — San Mateo Part time | $25-$35 per hour, based on demonstrated skills and responsibilities We are a small, patient-centered dental practice in a growth phase. Our scheduled days are busy, and we are looking for a dental assistant who enjoys working at a steady pace while giving patients a warm, attentive experience. We welcome both Dental Assistants (DAs) and Registered Dental Assistants (RDAs). This is primarily a clinical role, with occasional front desk support when needed. You should be proficient with Dentrix or ready to learn it quickly.
Responsibilities include:
Assisting the dentist chairside and having rooms, instruments, and materials ready for each appointment. Taking dental X-rays, if qualified to do so in California. Welcoming patients, helping them feel comfortable, and communicating clearly throughout their visits. Supporting the hygienist and helping appointments stay on schedule. Sterilizing instruments and keeping treatment rooms clean, stocked, and ready for the next patient. Monitoring supplies, restocking rooms, and flagging items that need to be ordered. Taking iTero scans if experienced, or learning to scan with training. Helping at the front desk when needed with greetings, calls, and scheduling. We value honesty, reliability, initiative, and pride in doing the job well. The right person works efficiently, notices what needs to be done, and follows through without letting important tasks pile up. Applicants with limited experience are welcome if they learn quickly and are clear about what they can do independently and where they need training.
Schedule:
Approximately 2-3 days per week, with four-hour shifts on some days and shifts of approximately six hours on others. Some Friday or Saturday availability is helpful. Please include your availability. To apply, please tell us which assisting tasks you can perform independently, whether you are qualified to take dental X-rays in California, and about your experience with Dentrix, iTero, and helping patients at the front desk. Please also include the hourly rate you believe is reasonable for the skills you can bring to the office. We will discuss and assess relevant skills during a paid working interview.
Pay:
$27.52 - $35.00 per hour Expected hours: 24.0 per week
