•Friday, 2 Saturdays a month About the Position The Back Office Supervisor / Lead Dental Assistant will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the dental back office while continuing to perform hands-on dental assisting duties. We are looking for someone who can lead by example, keep the back office organized and running efficiently, communicate effectively with doctors and staff, and ensure that patients receive excellent care. Key Responsibilities Lead and support all back office dental assistants and clinical staff. Perform hands-on dental assisting duties and assist doctors during procedures. Ensure operatories are properly stocked, set up, and maintained throughout the day. Monitor patient flow and help keep the back office running efficiently and on schedule. Coordinate with doctors and the front office regarding patient needs, treatment, and scheduling. Ensure all laboratory cases are properly documented, packaged, sent to the laboratory, and tracked through completion. Follow up on outstanding lab cases and ensure cases are received and ready before scheduled patient appointments. Maintain accurate case/lab tracking logs. Monitor inventory and ensure supplies are properly stocked without unnecessary over-ordering. Follow company procedures for ordering and receiving supplies. Ensure proper sterilization, infection control, OSHA, and safety procedures are consistently followed. Ensure all clinical areas, equipment, and operatories are clean and properly maintained. Assist with training and onboarding new back office employees. Hold back office staff accountable for following company policies, clinical protocols, and assigned responsibilities. Communicate staff concerns, operational issues, and patient concerns to the Office Manager. Help resolve day-to-day back office issues quickly and professionally. Ensure staff members are performing duties within their appropriate scope of practice and credentials. Monitor equipment and report maintenance or repair needs promptly. Help coordinate breaks and back office coverage to ensure adequate staffing throughout the day. Maintain a professional, positive, and team-oriented work environment. Step in and assist wherever needed when the back office is short-staffed. Support doctors and the Office Manager in maintaining a productive and efficient clinical environment. Qualifications Previous dental assisting experience required. Previous Lead DA, Back Office Supervisor, or leadership experience strongly preferred. RDA certification preferred/required based on assigned clinical responsibilities. Current CPR/BLS certification. Current required California dental assisting certifications. Strong understanding of sterilization, infection control, OSHA, and dental office safety procedures. Strong organizational and communication skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced dental environment. Ability to hold team members accountable while maintaining a positive working relationship. Strong attention to detail, especially with lab cases, supplies, patient records, and clinical operations. Reliable, punctual, professional, and willing to lead by example. Ability to work well with multiple doctors, assistants, and office leadership. What We're Looking For The ideal candidate is someone who is organized, proactive, accountable, and hands-on . This is not a position where the supervisor simply delegates tasks. Our Back Office Supervisor must be willing to work alongside the team, assist doctors, support staff, monitor daily operations, and step in when needed.
