Duties Assist dentists during clinical procedures, including chairside assistance and four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency and patient comfort. Take dental X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety while adhering to infection control protocols. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary equipment, and maintaining aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination. Manage patient medical records and documentation using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft ensuring accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain procedures using appropriate dental terminology. Operate dental imaging equipment such as 3D scanners and medical imaging devices to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning. Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing the dental reception area, and coordinating with other healthcare providers. Maintain knowledge of anatomy, medical coding, and medical terminology relevant to general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatrics to facilitate comprehensive patient care. Requirements Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic environment with proficiency in dental assisting techniques. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft, for efficient medical documentation and record-keeping. Knowledge of infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures aligned with OSHA guidelines. Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining patient safety standards. Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, and medical terminology relevant to dentistry specialties including pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, and endodontics. Experience supporting general dentistry practices with skills in chairside assisting and four-handed dentistry methods. Excellent communication skills for effectively interacting with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics; also capable of collaborating within a multidisciplinary team. Certification in CPR or Basic Life Support (BLS) is preferred; ongoing training in infection control or new dental technologies is advantageous.
