Part-Time Dental Assistant - Correctional Healthcare Florida Healthcare Staffing Kissimmee, FL Job Details Part-time 6 hours ago Benefits Employee assistance program Retirement plan Qualifications CPR Certification BLS Certification Correctional experience Care documentation High school diploma or GED Experience working with incarcerated individuals Organizational skills Full Job Description Position Overview A healthcare program serving a secure correctional facility is seeking a Part-Time Dental Assistant to support comprehensive dental services provided to an adult incarcerated population. The Dental Assistant will work under the direction of the Dentist and/or dental provider and will assist with chairside procedures, patient preparation, dental operatory management, instrument sterilization, documentation, and other clinical support activities. This position is well suited for a dependable Dental Assistant who enjoys working as part of a clinical team and is comfortable practicing in a structured healthcare environment. Essential Responsibilities Triage dental sick visits Assist the Dentist and dental provider with chairside dental procedures. Prepare patients for dental examinations, evaluations, and treatment. Prepare and maintain the dental operatory before, during, and after procedures. Set up instruments, equipment, and supplies for scheduled procedures. Clean, disinfect, package, and sterilize dental instruments and equipment according to established infection-control procedures. Assist with dental radiographs as permitted by training, certification, and applicable regulations. Maintain appropriate dental supplies and inventory. Assist with infection prevention and control practices. Maintain accurate dental records and clinical documentation. Assist with scheduling and coordination of dental appointments. Provide appropriate post-procedure instructions under the direction of the dental provider. Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked dental treatment area. Assist with maintaining dental equipment and identifying supply or equipment needs. Work collaboratively with dental, medical, nursing, and correctional personnel. Maintain patient confidentiality and appropriate professional boundaries. Follow established healthcare, infection-control, safety, and security procedures. Perform other duties related to dental services as assigned. Correctional Healthcare Environment The successful candidate must be comfortable providing dental services within a secure correctional healthcare environment. The position involves working with an incarcerated adult population and requires adherence to facility security procedures, professional boundaries, confidentiality requirements, and established healthcare protocols. Previous correctional healthcare experience is preferred but not required . Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED equivalent. Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent qualifying dental assisting experience, as permitted by applicable requirements. Current CPR/BLS certification. Ability to obtain and maintain required facility credentials and security clearance. Successful completion of required background screening. Ability to work effectively in a secure healthcare environment. Strong communication, organization, and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications Previous dental assisting experience. Experience assisting with general dentistry procedures. Experience with dental radiographs. Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) training or certification. Previous healthcare or correctional healthcare experience. Familiarity with infection prevention and instrument sterilization procedures. Experience with electronic medical or dental records. Scheduling will be coordinated based on clinical needs, facility operations, and provider availability. The position may offer flexibility in days and hours worked.
