Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our vibrant dental team. Duties Assist dentists during a wide range of procedures including restorative, prosthodontic, endodontic, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry treatments. Perform expanded functions such as coronal polishing, placement of temporary restorations, and taking impressions for crowns or bridges. Operate and maintain dental equipment including X-ray machines, 3D scanners, and sterilization tools in accordance with infection prevention management policies. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-ray) ensuring adherence to HIPAA regulations and radiation safety standards. Process and sterilize dental instruments following strict aseptic techniques to uphold infection control protocols. Manage patient records using electronic medical records (EMR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix; document treatment details accurately and securely. Support front desk operations by assisting with patient management software, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance information, and providing excellent patient care. Monitor vital signs and medical history for patients when necessary, ensuring clinical confidentiality policies are followed at all times. Facilitate effective communication between patients and the dental team to enhance patient experience and satisfaction. Maintain a clean, organized clinical environment aligned with healthcare infection prevention standards. Qualifications Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with expanded functions certification (EFDA preferred). Proficiency in dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting, dental terminology, and dental instrument processing. Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix; ability to navigate patient management software efficiently. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical documentation standards to ensure patient confidentiality. Experience with dental radiography (X-ray), including digital imaging and 3D scanning technology. Strong understanding of infection control practices, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures in a clinical setting. Ability to perform general dentistry tasks as well as specialized areas like prosthodontics, endodontics, oral surgery, and pediatric dentistry. Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care. Knowledge of anatomy relevant to dentistry and medical terminology for accurate documentation.
