Job description: Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. In this vital role, you will support dentists during patient procedures, ensure smooth clinic operations, and provide exceptional care to our patients. Responsibilities Assist dentists with various procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry, ensuring all tools and materials are prepared and sterilized according to infection control protocols. Take and develop dental X-rays using advanced medical imaging equipment such as 3D scanners, ensuring patient safety and comfort while adhering to HIPAA regulations for medical documentation and records. Manage patient intake by updating medical history, vital signs, and dental records within EMR systems like Open Dental maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA standards. Provide chairside assistance during treatments by handing instruments, managing suction devices, and ensuring the sterile field is maintained through aseptic techniques. Support the dental reception area by scheduling appointments, managing patient flow, and handling administrative tasks as a dental receptionist. Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and explain procedures using appropriate dental terminology to ensure understanding. Maintain infection control standards by following proper sterilization procedures and ensuring the clinic environment remains clean and organized. Requirements Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with knowledge of general dentistry procedures and terminology. Proficiency with EMR systems such as Open Dental for managing medical records and documentation. Familiarity with X-ray technology, medical imaging tools including 3D scanners (ITERO), and pediatric dentistry practices. Strong understanding of infection control protocols, aseptic techniques, anatomy knowledge, and dental assisting best practices including four-handed dentistry. Ability to accurately perform vital signs assessment and assist with endodontic or prosthodontic procedures as needed. Knowledge of HIPAA regulations related to medical documentation and patient privacy. Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists, hygienists, dentists, and patients.
